Electrical faults are where machines waste the most shop time, because an intermittent fault that will not repeat is a fault nobody can point at. Chafed insulation and a corroded pin look like nothing until the machine moves.
The work is tracing the circuit rather than replacing what the code names. A harness repaired at the actual break stays fixed; a control module replaced because a code mentioned it usually does not.

Common questions
- My fault only happens sometimes — can you find it?
- Usually, but intermittent faults take longer by their nature. Anything you can tell us about when it happens — cold, hot, rough ground, particular movements — narrows it considerably.
- The code names a module. Does it need replacing?
- Frequently not. A module reporting a fault is often reporting what it sees on a circuit, and the fault is in the wiring or a connector. Testing the circuit first is much cheaper than a module.
- Do you repair harnesses or only replace them?
- Repair where a repair will hold, which is most of the time. A full harness is expensive and often on back order, and a properly repaired section is not a compromise.
